as we stood in the closet of my father's home
we heard the door and he was knocking
so we ran to the pantry and started locking up

i nearly started laughing when you started cracking up
you heard my father breathing and it made me quickly straighten up

you pushed me out the door, single file we fell

then he came up the stairs with her to show her how we're living

he had a belt in his hand, i shrank back in fear
